The term appropriation has come into Marxian terminology of aesthetics directly from the works of Marx; however, it is not used in its genuine meaning, and very often incorrect conclusions are being derived by its use. According to Marx, appropriation is a term the task of which is to designate the specific human active relationship to the world on the ontological level, realized by means of different forms and having different aspects. In view of human needs it is a value-creating process. Analyzing Marx's conception of appropriation one can conclude that the so-called „formation according to the laws of beauty“ is characteristical for every typical human activity where the aspect of form plays a role. This is a symptom of a certain niveau, a certain qualitative charakteristic feature of appropriation. In it, things and phenomena obtain for man among others also an aesthetical value, and an aesthetical relationship of man to reality arises (liking) which is not a cognizing but an evaluating relationship. Besides arts, it is not correct to speak of a particular aesthetical form of appropriation. Only art which originates by this aspect of appropriation becoming independent up to particular activity, is a specific form of appropriation. Since this is a transmutation of reality in a particular manner, by „formation according to the laws of beauty“ becoming independent, one can speak of an „evaluation of things“. However, evaluation of things does not mean their appropriation. Art, by means; of this evaluation, expresses a state into which the artist as a social man gets by his connection with realy which is the result of a certain level of the „humaneness“ of man. Thus, what we see here is that appropriation; itself becomes appropriated, or in other words „human reality in its reality“. Art is not a form of cognition though it is a'spiritual form of appropriation, a certain reality becoming conscious to man. Thus it has a gnoseological aspect: however, very important in it is the axiological aspect, which is insufficently explored up to the present. A correctly comprehended appropriation of Marx's idea offers a great number of impulses to aesthetics which are to be applied ini building-up of a Marxian system of aesthetics.
