Abstrakt

Realism and humanism are substantial characteristics of Masaryk’s thought. Realism, keeping at a distance both from historical conservatism and futuristic radicalism, was highly original formula of transforming reality. Masaryk refused revolutionary radicalism as a means of introducing social change and he built upon the concrete reformism of minute work. He considered humanism an ideal – a regulative idea of human community implying elimination of violence from human relationships. In the end Masaryk’s influence on S. Štúr’s thought is characterized.
