Abstract

The problem of the moral is one of the most important problems in the theory of ethics. Its resolution depends on the moral goals proposed by the respective conceptions. The paper discusses various conceptions of the moral embodied in various ethical theories. In the author's view both militaristic and deontological conceptions in their pure and radical froms should be dismissed. The author (she) shows, how the utilitarian ethics intertwines with the deontological one, giving rise to the ethics of duty, justified by man's strive for survival. In this ethics both the notion of duty and the idea of goal are modified.
