Logical Analysis of Empirical Theories

(Original title: Logická analýza empirických teórií)
Filozofia, 45 (1990), 6, 652-675.
Type of work: Papers
Publication language: Slovak

The paper is aiming to give an overview of a logical reconstruction of empirical theories. A formalized language is consedered as the language of empirical theories. Problems of an interpretation of the language are studied. The interpretation enables to speak about an empirical sense of the formalized theory. The topic of analytical sentences is presented in this context. The second part of the paper is devoted to the testability problem. The structure of empirical theories with respect to some concepts of testability is analyzed. The role of logic and mathematics in empirical theories is sketched. The paper was written in the year 1968 and this is its first publication.
