Abstract

The theory of religion draws on the researches in various close related disciplines. In spite of this fact no universally accepted theory of religion has been presented up to now. S. E. Guthrie’s attempt at such a theory is based mainly on ethnology. His remarkable book makes us to rethink the antropomorphism not only in religion, but also in language and in the process of knowledge as such. Being so universal and widespread, the antropomorphism can not be seen as a sufficiently specific basis of a theory of religion.
