Abstract
The views of Francisci represent an attempt at the synthesis of the outlook on history and social progress, influenced by Hegel and Herder and a petty bourgeois conception of economic independence which, within this concept, means an extraordinarily important way to freedom. Francisci, unlike his contemporaries, conceived freedom not in the national sense only, but above all — and this should be pointed out — in the sense of economic liberation, of making the nation independent of the foreign capital and in the sense of a more just distribution of capital within the nation.
