Abstract
The author in his contribution introduces a brief survey of the development of the views of the conception of determinism in psychology, from the idealistic indeterminism of psychology of consciousness, through mechanistic conceptions to the contemporary dialectical-materialistic conception of determinism in Marxist psychology and he comes to the conclusion that the development of scientific psychology represents the history of the struggle for determinism, the struggle that is topical even today. The problem of determinism is considered for one of the central theoretical-methodological problems that connects psychology with philosophy. In this sense the author comes to the conclusion that just the rise of Marxist philosophy enabled the principally new direction of investigating man’s psyche and forming his personality.
