Abstract

Brentanos’ three basic theses — that of the primacy of scientific method, that of the intentional reference to the object without a constitutional judgement and, besides, without being bound to the temporal background of Lebenswelt, and finally that of the diminution of the primacy of practice are no more limited to phenomenology alone: They raise the question of the manifoldness of the still persisting Enlightenment programme as opposed to the overcoming of modern ways of thinking in the age of so called postmodernity.
