Abstract

The specific art of the actor is an ecstatic kind of art which makes all body-soul antagonisms invalid. By the acting of actors it becomes evident that the body is in no case hiding inner values which then are attributed to the soul, and that outer spaces do not exist closed off and separated from the body. The body itself is expansion, open field, open space, cosmos. Thus, concerning the art of actors we may say: The psyche is expanded, and it knows about it! Thank to this fact, theatre is so effective and has so many possibilities; this is what makes theatre particularly attractive as a communal event.
